The tarot deck is made up of two parts: the Major Arcana, consisting of 22 cards, and the Minor Arcana, consisting of 56 cards. The major arcana, also known as the trumps, can be taken in order to tell the journey of the fool. The minor, or lesser, arcana are the suit cards, ranging from aces to tens followed by the page, knight, queen and king.
Current Hollywood depictions have made the Death card notorious, and The Lovers card seems in itself to be self-explanatory. However, interpreting the tarot requires an open mind as the cards meanings are much richer than their mere names may seem to suggest.
